Dal Fry - simple method of preparation


Dal Fry :


Recipe :
Tuvar dal - 1 cup
Tomatoes - 2 ( small size)- finely chopped
Turmeric powder - a pinch
Green chilies - 2 ( medium size)- slit/chopped
Salt - to taste
Coriander leaves
Curry leaves
Onion - 1 ( medium size_ finely chopped


Method of Preparation:


1.Pressure cook dal with chopped  tomatoes , a pinch of turmeric powder, chopped green chilies and salt( to taste ) with 2-2.5 cups of water( you can adjust the amount of water to get medium /thick consistency).


2.Take a frying pad , heat  oil/ghee ( 2-3 spoons); add mustard , let them splutter.


3.Add curry leaves , then chopped onions, asafoetida powder and fry it till the onions become transparent / golden brown color.


4.Now add the cooked dal ( smash it if required ) and stir well.


5.Switch off  the flame , garnish with coriander leaves .You can also add lemon juice if required.







Dal fry goes well with rotis/chappathi.
